Building A Legacy
This video was a long time in coming.
The first video I ever did with Brian McCormack was at a UM Army in Beaumont in early summer, 2008. On the last day we were there, Brian and I went out to Lamar University, where Brian had played basketball a few years before. We stopped off at the basketball gym for a few minutes, and I got some shots of Brian drinking in the space and recollecting. We planned to use the footage in a sermon sometime later in the summer.
But then thigns got busy, as they always do, and we never got a chance to use the footage. Every couple months, I'd remind Brian that we needed to use that footage, but we never got around to it.
Two years later, Brian had announced that he was leaving to go study church planting in Seattle, and we decided we had to find a way to use the footage. Brian suggested that we connect the stories of leaving Lamar and leaving our church, and I swung over to shoot some footage and record a voiceover for that Sunday. He found me a couple old VHS tapes from his playing days for me to sort through.
It was simple and easy. But it's one of my favorite videos that I've ever done.
