Edge Camp Rules 2011
We'd had a lot of fun shooting the rules video for Edge Camp the year before - we'd done a very low-rent version of a kung-fu movie spoof - and this year we wanted to take it up a notch. Tom asked me, "what if we did a music video?" I thought it sounded fun, and agreed, but the week of Edge Camp rolled around, and we were nowhere. I came in on Wednesday morning - knowing the video had to be done Friday - and Tom came into my office and said, "here's the song. Now let's go shoot a video."
Zach Hendricks wrote and produced the song (the interns supplied their own verses), and the next 36 hours were some of the most fun I've ever had shooting. We had so much fun that first day that by the time we mentioned we wanted to do a big dance number at one of the high schools, we had a few dozen students begging to come along.
If I could only do videos like this for the rest of my life, I'd be a happy man.
If you like it, you can download the song on iTunes. All proceeds go to Compassion International.
