Edge Camp - "Hardcore Day"
I know that on some level you don't need to know that much to make a camp video (loud music + fast cuts = indisguishable from any other camp video), but whenever I get called in to make one, I always want to go all out and make it hella awesome.
Because of the time crunch involved, that's tough to do in any camp, but it's a lot harder at Edge, where the video producer has to put together a video every single day: shoot during rec in the morning, edit all afternoon, show the video that evening. It's not a schedule that lends itself to extensive color-correction, nor the ability to say 'y'know, I'm not really feeling this sequence. Let me grab a snack and come back at it in an hour." Food is instead consumed while hunched frantically over a laptop in a poorly air-conditioned dorm room.
I remember this video I went right up to the wall on it - I was so determined to rock everyone's socks (it was the last day of camp) that I pushed my schedule as far as it could go, editing right up until the service started. Then I went and had a quiet heart attack outside.
